Jim Taylor – Managing Director

Jim Taylor is the Managing Director of Brisbane Unique Homes. He is a certified Queensland Master Builder and personally supervises the construction of every new home built by the company.

Jim’s been building custom designed luxury homes for almost 40 years during which time he’s completed literally hundreds of spectacular, innovative homes for his discerning clients.

“It’s a family tradition,” he says, “My grandfather was a builder in Charters Towers for many years before moving his family to Brisbane. He passed on much of his extensive woodworking and carpentry knowledge to my father. Growing up, I helped my father from time to time. He was a very astute businessman from whom I gained a wealth of experience and good advice. Some years later I inherited many of my grandfather’s original hand tools which I will always value immensely.  I guess you could say building is in the family’s genes.”

Growing Up in The 1970’s

Like most Brisbane teenagers in the 1970s, Jim was attracted to the Gold Coast’s beaches and surfing culture. The Coast was an exciting place back then and developing quickly, so when the time was right it was a natural progression for him to start his own Gold Coast building company.

The intervening years have not diminished his love of exercise and the outdoor lifestyle. He and his family have had a long association with the Mermaid Beach Surf Club and at weekends they can often be found catching up with friends and old mates at the club. They are also keen skiers, so when time allows the luxury of a short break, the ski slopes make for an enjoyable change of scenery.

Being a relatively low-volume builder and concentrating on the luxury end of the market allows us to take a personal interest in every home we build.  Our company’s vision has always been to be the first choice among discerning homeowners. In fact, many of the custom homes we’ve built have been on the personal recommendations of friends and business associates who’ve also engaged our services.

Unlike most builders who offer a standard range of floor plans, Jim geared the business to delivering Brisbane luxury homes that stand out from the crowd. These days, the company builds homes across a wide range of styles throughout South East Queensland; from luxury waterfront residences to spacious acreage homes and stunning town homes. More recently, we’ve extended the range to include luxury duplexes and dual living homes.
