Empty nesters comprise an increasing number of Brisbane’s new home buyers. While many have enjoyed their large, often quite luxurious family homes, changing needs are creating a demand for easily maintained, yet equally comfortable small luxury homes.
Unique Homes’ director, Jim Taylor believes the trend to downsizing will continue as retirees opt to free up capital in their existing homes and as the costs and effort associated with maintaining larger homes becomes more of an issue for those living on reduced incomes.
Recognising this emerging market, his company has developed a portfolio of smaller, yet quite luxurious new home designs. These range from a 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom single level home of 230 sq metres priced from around $267,000 to a 4-bedroom 2-storey home of 340 sq metres from under $408,000. An attractive 300 sq metre split level design is also available at around $400,000.
Mr Taylor stressed that each of the company’s five new designs can be easily modified to suit a client’s individual building sites and lifestyle requirements. “We’re remaining true to our philosophy of building homes that are uniquely designed for each and every client,” he said. “For well over 20 years, this approach has assisted our company to attract a growing number of discerning clients who appreciate the added comfort, quality and ease of maintenance our homes provide.”
Although the new designs may not be as grandiose in size, they lack little in luxury features. The standard 230 sq metre 3-bedroom single level ‘Intrepid’ includes a spacious master suite with walk-in robe and sizeable ensuite, designer kitchen complete with island bench and walk-in pantry and a large living area flowing onto to the outdoor living area.
With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, the ‘McKenzie’ is 22 sq metres larger. Its generous dining area is more suited to those with visiting friends, family and grand children while the 2nd bedroom easily doubles as a home office/study if required.
The 2-storey ‘Argyle’ includes the luxury of a butler’s pantry adjacent to the kitchen, a spacious walk-in linen room, ground floor guest suite with en-suite and walk-in ‘robe plus a comfortable first floor sitting room. The master suite includes a large en-suite featuring a double shower, two wash basins and toilet, along with a very large walk-in wardrobe.
At just over 340 sq metres, the ‘Ayre’ offers multiple living areas including a separate study, first floor sitting room and large media/family room with direct access to the home’s alfresco outdoor living area.
